“My buttons, my buttons. My four
groovy buttons!”
"Did Pete cry? Goodness, no! Buttons come and buttons go."
“My buttons, my buttons. My four groovy buttons!”
“I guess it simply goes to show
that stuff will come and stuff will go.”
Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons is
appealing to preschool and kindergarten lesson planning for a number of
reasons. It's a clever concept book
that focuses on positivity, subtraction, and counting. The repetition in the book will have your students stimulated and engaged as they begin counting down buttons with you. The illustrations
prominently feature the numbers 1-4 and the words "one,"
"two," "three" and "four" multiple times throughout the book. The illustrations also introduce students, possibly for
the first time, to what a subtraction problem looks like. Children are unwarily being introduced to simple math all the while pondering Pete's moral message about always having a positive "It's all good" attitude.
